Hard water is your equipment’s slowest enemy.
Texas has some of the hardest water in the country, and it’s not uniform. Hardness swings wildly by region, from soft in College Station to among the hardest in the country in San Antonio, driven by limestone geology, local water sources, and aging utility infrastructure.
That mineral load doesn’t just affect taste. In commercial buildings, hard water means scale, calcium and magnesium building up inside pipes, water heaters, boilers, and fixtures, quietly choking flow, dragging down efficiency, and cutting the lifespan of equipment you’ve already paid for.
Willbanks designs, sizes, installs, and services water softening systems built for your building’s specific water and your specific equipment, to protect your plumbing investment and keep everything downstream running longer. Same in-house team that handles your boiler.
Willbanks locations highlighted. Interpolated surface based on 67 municipal hardness readings (inverse-distance weighted); colors between cities are estimates, markers are measured values. USGS classifies water as soft (<60 mg/L), moderately hard (60–120), hard (120–180), and very hard (>180). A specific building can differ from its city average.
Why softening matters.
The case for softened feedwater isn’t complicated. It’s about efficiency, equipment life, and downstream equipment behaving.
Protect the boiler
Scale on a heat exchanger is the fastest way to lose efficiency and shorten equipment life. Softening keeps the surface clean.
Lower operating cost
A clean heat exchanger transfers heat the way it was designed to. Less fuel for the same hot water.
Extend equipment life
Scale and corrosion are the leading reasons commercial boilers fail early. Treated feedwater pushes that date out.
Cleaner downstream
Faucets, dishwashers, laundry equipment, kitchen lines, and process loops all run cleaner on softened water.
Configurable to load
Single, twin, triplex, and quad configurations sized for the building. We don't oversell capacity you won't use.
Service in-house
Same technicians that service your boilers handle the softener. One number for the whole boiler room.
Water softener restoration & water softener solutions.
The Willbanks team is a trusted provider of commercial and industrial water softener solutions. With several team members bringing more than 30 years of hands-on water softener experience, we specialize in custom-engineered systems, preventative maintenance, and system restoration.
Our services include resin re-beds, media replacement, and complete system rebuilds designed to maximize performance and extend equipment life. Restoring an existing water softener system is often a more cost-effective alternative to replacement, returning the equipment to peak operating condition while adding years of reliable service.
Whether your facility requires preventative maintenance, a complete system restoration, or a custom water softener solution, Willbanks delivers dependable water treatment that protects your investment and reduces long-term operating costs.

Built for the people who depend on us.
Mechanical contractors, plumbers, building owners, and engineers who need a partner that shows up. That's been the job since 1977.
Family-owned, 49 years.

- Most Texas municipal supplies carry enough calcium and magnesium to scale every hot surface in the building. Scale on a boiler's heat exchanger insulates the metal, drops combustion efficiency, and shortens the unit's useful life. Softening removes the minerals before they reach the equipment.
- Ion-exchange systems, sized to the building's hot-water demand and the redundancy you need. Single, twin (duplex), triplex, and quad configurations. Brine tanks, regeneration controllers, bypass plumbing, and the salt handling included as part of the install.
- We test the source water for hardness and iron, calculate the building's peak and average flow demand, and pick a capacity that runs through realistic regen cycles between recharges. The engineering happens in-house before we quote the install.
- Routine salt refills, periodic regen-cycle verification, and occasional resin checks. We offer service contracts that cover all of it, run by the same Willbanks team that maintains your boiler. One number for the whole mechanical room.
- Yes. We're brand-agnostic on service. If there's a commercial softener in your mechanical room, we'll work on it, regardless of who originally specified or installed it.
- Commercial softening typically targets the hot-water and process loops, not the cold-water drinking line. We design the plumbing so only the loops that benefit from softening are routed through the system.
The softener is rarely the whole job.
A water softener install almost always touches the boiler, the parts inventory, and the maintenance schedule. Everything runs out of the same Willbanks team.
